Dear Teen Bugs

Updated: Mar 25, 2023

Dear Teen Bugs,

As Forest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” And that’s very true. Life can be fun and enjoyable, or it can be hard and stressful. I know you spend a lot of time feeling down, but trust me it’s these times that make you stronger.

I know you have a lot of anger toward the people in your life, God, and the world in general. That’s completely understandable and 100% okay. Remember, anger is neither good nor bad, it’s what you do with it that matters.

You’re doing amazing and you’ve already accomplished a lot. From being an athlete to all the clubs you’re in to eventually graduating high school and getting into college. There will always be trials along the way. Remember that the trials don’t stop coming, but you do become more capable of overcoming them.

In the midst of all your hard work and difficulties, never forget to be grateful for the good things in life. You have a family that loves you, a God that provides for you, and countless opportunities. Some of these opportunities will seem like problems. All you have to do is change your perspective about them. I think you’ll find that life is easier and more enjoyable if you see things in a positive light.

I love you, and I’m very proud of you. You’re a lover, a warrior, a peacemaker, a gentleman, and a scholar. I know you’ll do your best to be neither a prideful nor a shameful man, but one of humility and grace. Thank you for being you.

Sincerely,

Bugs

p.s. Spoiler alert: you’ll eventually have an adorable son who loves you immensely and who you love more than you could ever imagine. Something to look forward to :-)
